About KENYA VETERINARY BOARD
The Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB) is a vital regulatory body established under the Veterinary Surgeons’ and Veterinary Para-professionals (VSVP) Act No. 29 of 2011. Its primary mandate is to ensure the supervision and control of veterinary practices, training, and the overall employment of veterinary surgeons and paraprofessionals throughout Kenya. Launched on February 14, 2012, KVB has evolved from the previous Veterinary Surgeons’ Act, broadening its role to inclusively register both veterinary surgeons and paraprofessionals, thus uplifting veterinary standards in the country.
KVB offers a robust range of services tailored for the veterinary community, including registration, deregistration, and licencing of professionals. It provides quality assurance services, internship opportunities, and sets educational standards for animal health training institutions. The board is dedicated to ongoing professional development through continuous professional development (CPD) programs and guidelines. With a strong commitment to uphold veterinary standards, KVB continuously engages with practitioners and the community, ensuring best practices in animal health and welfare.
