Motivated by a tragic event that took the life of her cousin, Khalida decided to stand up for women's rights and fight against honor crimes. She started the Youth and Gender Development Program, which offers skills training and raises awareness about honor killings. Additionally, Khalida launched the Sughar Empowerment Society, a non-profit organization that helps women in Pakistan learn skills related to economic and personal growth.

Through her social entrepreneurship, Khalida and her husband founded The Chai Spot, a peace-building social enterprise that promotes Pakistani arts and hospitality.
