Khimera

Khimera is an Italian green chemistry company and university spin-off that helps businesses make their chemical processes and products more sustainable. Based at the University of Salerno, it combines research expertise with technical support to develop solutions tailored to each client’s needs. Its services include environmental assessments of existing chemical processes, consultancy and implementation support, and the development and optimisation of processes designed to reduce energy costs, waste, hazardous substances and carbon dioxide emissions.

Khimera also develops and supplies eco-sustainable chemical ingredients, working with companies to identify materials that are effective, safe and suited to their sustainability goals. Through research and development, it collaborates with businesses, research organisations and academic institutions on alternatives to conventional, polluting processes and products. The company’s projects include APD Fly, which aims to monitor air pollutants using drone-mounted sensors, and HOT (H2OxyTan), focused on a more sustainable leather-tanning process.
