About Kia Kotahi Ako
Kia Kotahi Ako Trust is an alliance of passionate individuals, known as the Edmund Hillary Fellows, dedicated to creating a positive impact for our planet and transforming education. With a strong belief in the intrinsic knowledge system of Te Ao Māori, they strive for equitable educational outcomes and student-designed solutions to address environmental challenges. Established in 2021, the trust was founded by Joanne McEachen, Nikora Ngaropo, and Andrew Boyd, who bring a wealth of experience in education, systems change, and indigenous wisdom.
They are joined by leaders Huia Lambie and Sarah Grant, who contribute their expertise in iwi and hapū development and global education. Kia Kotahi Ako Trust aims to empower learners to become change-makers in the face of the climate emergency. Their strategic goals include accelerating education solutions for the environment, championing Te Ao Māori initiatives, and weaving opportunities for policy system change.
