About KIBERA CREATIVE ARTS
Kibera Creative Arts (KiCA) is a Community-Based Organization (CBO) located at the heart of the Kibera slum in Nairobi, Kenya. Established in 2016, KiCA aims to empower the community through the arts by providing affordable resources to unleash their diverse artistic potentials. Guided by the Swahili proverb, Sanaa ni kioo cha jamii (Art is the reflection of the community), KiCA believes that art is a powerful tool for self-expression and a means to convey the stories of the people in Kibera.
With a focus on reducing barriers to artistic expression, KiCA offers a solid platform for community members to showcase their talents in various art forms including crafts, poetry, music, painting, dance, acting, and comedy. Through their programs such as lessons, mentorship, life skills training, rehearsals, and events, KiCA nurtures artistic abilities while promoting solidarity, strength, beauty, and innovation within the community.
