About KIDS COUNT
KIDS COUNT is an initiative by The Annie E. Casey Foundation (AECF), a private philanthropy based in Baltimore, dedicated to shaping a brighter future for children and young people. Recognizing that educational, economic, social, and health outcomes are critical for success, KIDS COUNT focuses on strengthening families, building stronger communities, and ensuring access to opportunity.
Working across the country, KIDS COUNT partners with federal agencies, states, counties, cities, and neighborhoods to address challenges faced by children and young people. By making grants, the foundation helps create innovative, cost-effective responses to these challenges. Efforts are concentrated on overcoming barriers to success by advancing research and implementing evidence-based solutions.
The aim is to inform policies, practices, and investments that improve the well-being of children, youth, and young adults. With a committed staff of 190, KIDS COUNT collaborates with over 700 grantees to transform child welfare and juvenile justice systems, support parents in achieving financial stability, revitalize underprivileged neighborhoods, build leadership capacity, and raise awareness of critical issues affecting children and families.
