Kies voor de kinderen

Kies voor de kinderen is a youth support service led by Gaby Klok and Sheila Arnoldus, experienced youth care workers and KIES coaches. Since 2012, they have facilitated KIES groups at different schools, offering children affected by parental separation a safe, welcoming place to talk about their experiences. The approach brings together children facing similar circumstances, helping them feel heard and understood and drawing on the support that can grow within a group.

The service offers school-based training and support in several areas. Its work includes KIES groups for children whose parents are separating or divorced, social skills training, grief support for children, and prevention-focused support addressing anxiety and depression in children. Kies voor de kinderen aims to foster a positive atmosphere where children can discuss the realities and uncertainties of family separation without feeling alone. By creating opportunities for connection and open conversation, the organisation supports children as they navigate difficult changes and develop their social and emotional well-being.
