DO Kim's Taekwondo Boise

Kim’s Taekwondo Boise is a traditional martial arts school serving Boise, Idaho, and the Treasure Valley since 1982. It offers instructor-led Taekwondo programs for children, adults, women seeking self-defense training, and adult beginners. Rooted in traditional Korean Taekwondo, its classes help students build self-defense skills, strength, cardiovascular endurance, confidence, focus, and emotional resilience. Children’s training also emphasizes courtesy, integrity, and self-control, while belt progression encourages goal-setting and perseverance.

The school is led by 9th-degree Grandmaster David Knife, who founded the Boise school and has taught there since its establishment. Knife was a Division I college athlete and studied under Grandmaster Hong Sik Kim, who trained the South Korean National Police before bringing traditional Korean Taekwondo to the United States in 1968. Kim’s Taekwondo describes its schools as part of a large independent martial arts network, with locations from Hawaii to South Carolina and a strong presence in the Pacific Northwest. The Boise school also offers class schedules, videos, and the opportunity to request a free class.
