Stiftung Kind und Autismus is a Swiss competence centre for people on the autism spectrum, based in Urdorf near Zurich. For around fifty years, the foundation has supported children and young people on the spectrum and their families, with the aim of enabling fulfilling lives and greater participation in society. Its approach is holistic and individually tailored, taking account of each person’s needs and development.
The foundation’s services include specialised schooling and residential support, supported living, transport and supplementary daytime activities. It also offers counselling and practical support for autistic people, families, professionals and others in their communities, drawing on a range of methods and support approaches. Training courses, continuing education, talks and a diploma programme for professionals provide opportunities to deepen knowledge of autism and improve support in everyday settings. The foundation also shares stories and information to raise public awareness, and works with families, specialist organisations in Switzerland and abroad, and a wider network. Across its work, it promotes self-determination, individual development and inclusion in the community.
