Kinderhof Tewel

Kinderhof Tewel is a child and youth welfare organization based in Neuenkirchen, on the edge of the Lüneburg Heath nature reserve. It provides a time-limited home for children aged 6 to 13 in a small residential group with live-in care. The setting combines individual educational support with opportunities to experience nature and care for animals.

Children can play and explore on the property’s spacious grounds, which include room for activities such as trampolining, campfires, barbecues, and relaxing outdoors. Animal care is encouraged as part of everyday life, helping children practise responsibility, build confidence, and express their feelings. The approach may be particularly supportive for children who have experienced trauma.

Because the group is small, staff can focus on each child’s needs and development. Kinderhof Tewel supports children across important areas of life, including sensory awareness, motor skills, school, and vocational preparation. Its stated aim is to accompany each child individually over the longer term and help them move toward greater independence.
