St. Anna Kinderkrebsforschung is an Austrian research institute dedicated to making childhood cancer treatable and, ultimately, curable. For 35 years, it has worked to understand the distinct and complex forms of cancer affecting children, including leukemia, neuroblastoma and Ewing sarcoma. Its researchers aim to develop new treatment approaches suited to young patients, supported by expertise across 13 research groups and collaboration with partners in 50 countries. The institute reports 91 publications in 2025 and describes itself as Central Europe’s leading childhood cancer research centre.
Research is funded mainly through donations, which the organisation says make its work possible. Supporters can contribute directly, organise fundraising activities, or order a donation box for occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries. The institute also offers its Sigi bull mascot as a way to support its research while giving a gift. Through its website, St. Anna Kinderkrebsforschung shares research news, information about childhood cancer, updates on studies and discoveries, and opportunities to learn about its work.
