Kinderkrebshilfe Wien–NÖ–Burgenland is a donation-funded nonprofit supporting children and young people with cancer, along with their families, across Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland. Founded in 1986 by parents with personal experience of childhood cancer, the organisation has supported more than 8,000 children and families. It works closely with St. Anna Children’s Hospital and the AKH Children’s Clinic, while remaining independent of both.
The organisation offers practical, personal support throughout diagnosis, treatment and recovery. Its services include mobile nursing and psychological care at home, psychosocial support, social work in partner hospitals, advice, family accompaniment and direct financial assistance when circumstances are especially difficult. It also helps children return to school and everyday life, and supports relatives, including parents and siblings. Services are free, open to eligible families and designed to be accessible without complicated applications.
Kinderkrebshilfe funds its work through donations, fundraising events, goods donations and bequests. Supporters can contribute through initiatives such as the HopeRun and other charity events. Donations are tax-deductible when the required personal details are provided.
