Kinderschutzengel e.V.

Kinderschutzengel e.V. is a Berlin-based nonprofit that supports seriously and chronically ill, disabled, and otherwise disadvantaged children and young people, as well as their families. Since 2005, the organization has brought comfort and positive experiences to children facing illness or difficult circumstances, working across Berlin and Brandenburg with hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and children’s residential groups.

Its services include animal-assisted therapy with specially trained therapy dogs, hospital visits, seasonal celebrations, and activities featuring music, dancing, and games. The team tailors visits to each partner institution and aims to give families a welcome break from everyday pressures. Kinderschutzengel also organizes an annual gala, where children can enjoy performances and a celebratory red-carpet experience.

The association emphasizes animal welfare and service quality; it is inspected by the veterinary authority, and its dog handler holds the required professional certification. Its work is funded entirely by donations. Supporters can contribute through one-time gifts, become dog sponsors or supporting members, donate goods or old jewelry, or volunteer.
