The Kingfisher Interpretive Centre Society is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit community organization and salmon hatchery based on the banks of the Shuswap River near Enderby, British Columbia. Established more than three decades ago in response to declining salmon stocks, it works to support watershed enhancement, salmon restoration, and environmental education. Its mission is to reconnect people with the natural world and inspire stewardship of the environment.
The centre’s 10-acre site serves as a living classroom, where visitors can experience salmon and their habitat firsthand. Families and other visitors are welcome to explore the riverside setting, learn about local wildlife, and enjoy outdoor discovery. The organization offers educational field trips, programs, online learning resources, and teacher materials, including its Stream to Sea education initiative. It also hosts events and on-site activities focused on salmon, nature, and ecological learning.
Community members can support the centre by volunteering, becoming members, donating, sponsoring a salmon, or joining its board.
