Kiona Foundation Inc. is a New York City-based 501(c)(3) public charity founded in 2003 in honor of Kiona T. Jenkins. It works to advance cancer research and support people and families affected by cancer across the lifespan. Its scientific focus is pharmacognosy—the study of medicines derived from natural sources—and the discovery of novel botanical drugs. The Foundation also pursues research into the endogenous cannabinoid system. Its KF-ECS-2025 protocol examines possible deficiencies across general, clinical, and medically authorized adult and pediatric populations; the Foundation cautions that the protocol record does not establish current approval, enrollment, treatment availability, or results.
Programs extend this mission beyond research. Gold Ribbon Tech accepts donated computer hardware and coordinates refurbishment and placement for pediatric cancer families and caregivers, subject to availability. Every Ribbon Has a Name is a digital memorial honoring children lost to cancer. The Gold Ribbon Guild recognizes eligible donors, while One Ribbon, One Movement is the Foundation’s September childhood cancer awareness campaign.
