KIOS is a foundation that is dedicated to supporting the vulnerable and disadvantaged by strengthening the realization of human rights. They achieve this by providing direct support to civil society groups in developing countries that are working towards advancing human rights. KIOS focuses on South Asia and East Africa, and their core purpose is to empower marginalized individuals and those in vulnerable positions.

They work towards the full realization of human rights for every person and aim to enhance the commitment of governments in effectively implementing human rights legislation. As a unique Finnish organization, KIOS channels direct support to human rights projects planned and executed by civil society organizations in developing countries. They assist these organizations in various ways, including human rights education, raising awareness, campaigning, monitoring and documenting human rights violations, advocacy work, and legal aid.
