Kirsten Poort

Kirsten Poort is a child psychologist and family coach who supports children and parents in building self-esteem and greater harmony at home. Her practice offers individual guidance for children, parenting and pedagogical advice, and support for families facing challenges in everyday life. Poort aims to understand each situation thoroughly, helping parents gain insight into their child and providing practical support with upbringing. She also works directly with children to help them feel more open, cheerful, and confident.

A former teacher and mother, Poort combines her experience creating safe, supportive environments for children with a Master of Science in Applied Psychology focused on child and youth psychology. Her areas of interest include sensitive children, executive functions—the skills involved in coordinating information and goal-directed behavior—and the growth mindset, which emphasizes that learning and ability can develop. She values listening closely to children and their caregivers as a foundation for strong relationships. Kirsten Poort also shares reflections, ideas, and practical explanations about children through regular blog posts.
