Kistefos is a cultural destination and museum beside the Randselva river in Jevnaker, about an hour’s drive from Oslo. It brings together contemporary art, architecture, sculpture and industrial heritage in a scenic landscape. Its centrepiece, The Twist, designed by BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group, serves as a gallery, bridge and architectural sculpture, hosting changing exhibitions of international calibre.
The surrounding sculpture park features more than 50 works by prominent contemporary artists, with new sculptures added over time; many were created specifically for the site. Visitors can also explore the preserved buildings and machinery of Kistefos Træsliperi, a wood-pulp mill founded in 1889, including its “Living Factory” experience. Kistefos presents exhibitions in venues including The Twist and Nybruket Gallery, alongside educational activities for children and young people.
Visitor services include admission tickets, guided tours in Norwegian and English, a café and shop, events, private venue hire, memberships, gift cards, and information about transport and nearby accommodation. The park is open year-round, while museum hours vary by season
