Kit Carson Electric Cooperative (KCEC) has been serving Taos, Colfax, and Rio Arriba Counties since 1944, providing electricity to over 29,000 members. Over the past seventy-five years, KCEC has become a community leader in economic development, offering employment opportunities and supporting approximately 125 families. In response to the changing landscape of the utility industry, KCEC expanded its services to include propane and internet.

With the help of an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant, KCEC built a high-speed internet and phone service infrastructure. KCEC has also been actively building its solar capacity, aiming to achieve 100% daytime solar energy by 2022. In partnership with Guzman Energy, KCEC is strategically deploying solar PV to meet community goals and stabilize energy costs.
