At KiwiHarvest we believe that every New Zealander, especially our most vulnerable children and families, should have access to fresh, nutritious food. New Zealand produces enough food to feed 40 million people, yet 21% of kiwi children live in households struggling with insecurity. At the same time an estimated 30% of food produced globally goes to waste. In New Zealand the amount of good food going to waste each year, is enough to feed Wellington and Lower Hutt for a year. Every weekday, the team at KiwiHarvest rescues around 15 tonnes of this good surplus food from over 370 food businesses, including supermarkets, wholesalers, producers and others, this food could be oversupply, damaged packaging, cancelled orders, mislabelling, or the food is nearing its best before date or end of life. This food is then provided free to over 235 charitable agencies and community groups, including women’s refuges, mental health and addiction support, social housing, education programs, churches and marae, employment assistance and youth support. Find out more about how you or your business can help us champion this cause and improve our social and environmental wellbeing at www.kiwiharvest.org.nz.

About KiwiHarvest
KiwiHarvest is a renowned brand in Auckland that is dedicated to tackling food insecurity and reducing food waste in New Zealand. Since 2012, KiwiHarvest has been working tirelessly to nourish communities by rescuing and delivering high-quality, fresh food to those in need. Through their efforts, they have saved an astounding 10,045,578 kilograms of food, delivering over 28,701,651 meals and preventing 26,620,781 CO2eq from entering the atmosphere.
Food waste is a pressing environmental issue, and KiwiHarvest actively collaborates with supermarkets, restaurants, wholesalers, and other food businesses to rescue good food that would otherwise go to waste. They address the root causes of food waste, including oversupply, damaged packaging, mislabelling, and near-expiry products. By diverting this surplus food back to struggling individuals and families, KiwiHarvest helps bridge the gap between available resources and those in need.
Moreover, KiwiHarvest is devoted to advocating for changes in national strategies and regulations to combat food waste and enhance food security. They work closely with central and local governments, supporting initiatives like the Food Waste Champions 12. 3, which aims to halve food waste by 2030.
KiwiHarvest is committed to engaging with businesses, charities, and communities to raise awareness about food rescue and food security. They also provide educational resources and programs to teach people how to minimize food waste and appreciate the value of the food they consume. As a member of the Aotearoa Food Rescue Alliance and an SBN Impact Investor, KiwiHarvest is actively involved in promoting sustainable practices and supporting food rescue organizations across New Zealand.
Join KiwiHarvest in their mission to create a food-secure Aotearoa by donating, getting involved, volunteering, or simply spreading the word. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that every individual has access to nutritious food every day
