KAI Karate-Do Shotokan (KKS) is a nonprofit karate association based in Gondomar, Portugal. Founded in 1995 by Sensei Vítor Pereira Silva, an instructor with more than four decades of experience, it promotes and teaches Shotokan karate, combining martial arts practice with physical activity and personal development. The association serves around 200 practitioners aged 2 to 70 through classes at community spaces, schools and recreational centres in Gondomar, Rio Tinto, São Pedro da Cova and Fânzeres. More than half of its athletes are federated, and KKS regularly organises training courses, tournaments and seminars for practitioners, instructors and referees.

Its programmes welcome children, young people and adults. Children’s classes use games and adapted exercises to develop movement skills, coordination, fitness, concentration and confidence in a supportive setting. Adult training can be adjusted to individual needs and physical limitations, with attention to safe technique and long-term joint health. Instruction covers kihon, the fundamentals of technique; kumite, controlled partner practice; and kata, formal sequences.
