kleine herzen is an Austrian charity fund that was founded in 2006 and is listed in the official register for associations and charities, number 286027694. kleine herzen (which means “little hearts”) is dedicated to supporting orphans and poverty-stricken children who live in Russia, Ukraine, and Cambodia. kleine herzen is run by a team of volunteers, most of whom have an economic or industrial background. The mission of kleine herzen is to provide orphans and children in need in Russia, Ukraine, and Cambodia with self-esteem and confidence, independence, education, and support to prepare them for their adult lives. We want to prevent children from ending up in the street after leaving their homes or boarding schools and being subjected to violence, drug addiction, and crime. kleine herzen relies on backing from sponsors for its charitable work. The organization offers support in various fields, for example in health care and education - for both the children and their careers. There is also a volunteer program and of course, financial aid which is invested in the state-run orphanages in the Russian Federation and Ukraine, in “family homes” in Ukraine, and in children’s homes/education centers in Cambodia. In January 2010, kleine herzen was awarded the Austrian seal of approval for charities. The Austrian seal of approval stands for controlled safety donations through strict quality standards, transparency, and ongoing control. (http://www.osgs.at/) In September 2014, the chairwoman of kleine herzen, Pascale Vayer, has been awarded the Decoration of Merit in Gold of the Republic of Austria for her successful charitable projects in the Ukraine and Russia.
