About Klexikon
Klexikon – the Children's Encyclopedia is an informative and engaging online resource designed specifically for children. Founded in November 2014, this German-based website offers a vast collection of over 3000 articles in easy-to-understand language, making it suitable for children between the ages of eight and thirteen. While primarily available in German, there is also an emerging English version of Klexikon.
The name itself is a combination of Kinder (children) and Lexikon (encyclopedia). The platform was created by journalist Michael Schulte and historian Ziko van Dijk, with the support of Wikimedia Deutschland (WMDE), the organization that also backs Wikipedia in Germany. The Klexikon website is hosted by ZUM, a respected German association of teachers involved in various educational wikis.
