The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau of Latvia, known as KNAB, is a direct administration institution responsible for carrying out statutory tasks to prevent and combat corruption. It also oversees compliance with rules governing the financing of political parties and their associations, and checks adherence to restrictions on pre-election campaigning.

KNAB’s work includes investigating criminal offences related to corruption, addressing bribery of foreign public officials, and monitoring the conduct of public officials. The Bureau provides information on conflicts of interest, restrictions on holding multiple positions, administrative liability and party financing. It also examines political party financial records and campaign spending.

Alongside enforcement, KNAB supports prevention and public awareness through anti-corruption training, educational resources, guidance, tests, campaigns and events for audiences including businesses, students and teachers. The Bureau publishes annual reports, research and analytical material, and provides channels for people to report suspected wrongdoing, including an electronic reporting form and the “Ziņo KNAB!” platform. It also works with international organisations and partners, including the United Nations, OECD and GRECO.
