Knockoutrabies

Knockout Rabies is a charitable initiative of Mission Rabies USA, Inc., presented through the Community Health Coalition. It works to reduce preventable human and animal suffering from rabies in impoverished and underserved communities, with a stated goal of helping eliminate the disease in Africa by 2030. The organization focuses on vaccinating dogs, since infected dogs are the source of most human rabies cases and broad canine vaccination can prevent transmission.

Its approach includes traveling to communities to vaccinate dogs and working with local governments and existing nongovernmental organizations to build sustainable programs. The coalition identifies vaccinating 70 percent of dogs in an area as a key strategy, using a simple, inexpensive vaccine to protect both animals and people. Its work is aligned with the World Health Organization’s “Zero by Thirty” goal of ending human deaths from dog-mediated rabies by 2030.

Knockout Rabies also invites public support through donations and fundraising, and provides information and resources through its website. The organization is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
