Known Local IL is an Illinois-focused local business discovery network designed to help residents find and support businesses in their communities. The site organizes listings by category, with examples including cleaning services, steakhouses, pharmacies and medical providers, delivery, and home health care. Its directory is being built from public records, and each listing names the record used as its source and the date it was checked, giving visitors context about how the information was gathered and reviewed.

Listings are free, and businesses can use the site’s working forms to submit information or add their business; submissions are received by a person. Known Local IL also provides resources for customers and business owners, including guidance on how listings are checked, review standards, rules, frequently asked questions, and a way to report a listing. The site notes that it is still working through public records, so listings are being added and checked over time.
