Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is a wildlife destination in Brisbane, Queensland, established in 1927 and described as the world’s oldest and largest koala sanctuary. Set beside the river, about 12 kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD, it offers visitors the chance to meet more than 100 koalas and discover a wide range of native Australian animals. The sanctuary is open daily and welcomes families, local visitors, and travellers for a day of wildlife experiences, talks, and shows.
Visitors can book koala experiences, join hands-on wildlife encounters, or explore on expert-led tours, including nocturnal tours and behind-the-scenes experiences. The sanctuary also runs children’s programs, school holiday activities, virtual tours, and group visits for schools, vacation care groups, and corporate teams. Yearly memberships provide unlimited visits, discounts, and other benefits.
Lone Pine supports wildlife conservation through partnerships and donations, including contributions to the Australian Wildlife Conservancy from koala experience tickets. Its broader programs include volunteering, animal sponsorships, research, and conservation.
