Kokua Design Company is a freelance creative business founded by Kate, an artist and cartographer with a science degree. Inspired by life on Maui and a passion for art, nature, travel, and the ocean, the company creates original map art and graphic design for individuals and businesses. Its work combines cartography with illustration, photography, and design, with themes including travel, running, hiking, and the natural world.
Customers can shop map-print collections featuring vintage-inspired souvenir maps for major marathons and other destinations, as well as Hawaii travel and surf maps covering Maui, Kauai, Oahu, and the Big Island. Personalization is available for marathon maps. Kokua Design Company also offers custom map and graphic design services for businesses, inviting clients to get in touch to discuss project needs.
The company publishes Maui in 7 Days, a travel guide featuring original writing, layouts, maps, and photography, available through Apple Books. The name “Kokua” means “to help or assist” in Hawaiian and reflects Kate’s hope to support her community and contribute to conservation and education about the natural world.
