Kona Stories Book Store is a women-owned bookstore, established in 2006 by Brenda McConnell and Joy Vogelgesang. Located in the Historical Keauhou Shopping Center on Ali'i Drive, this bookstore is a treasure trove for book lovers of every genre. With 10,000 titles, Kona Stories features all genres of books, including the latest hardcovers, best sellers, and old classics.
Specializing in Hawaiiana, children's books, and educational toys, they also offer whimsical locally made gifts and a wide range of greeting cards. But Kona Stories is more than just a bookstore. They host Children's STEM events and Storytimes, promoting early reading and encouraging children to unplug.
The store also offers a unique consignment program for local, self-published writers to market their work. Additionally, Kona Stories welcomes everyone and is proud to be part of the LGBTQ+ community. You can curl up on comfy chairs, pet a cat, and talk story with the owners, who are in the shop almost every day.
Kona Stories also hosts numerous book clubs, writers groups, workshops, and author events each week. Don't miss out on the fabulous ocean view and the Hawaiian cultural events in the courtyard at Keauhou Shopping Center. Visit Kona Stories Book Store Monday through Friday from 10AM to 6PM, Saturday from 10AM to 5PM, and Sunday from 11AM to 5PM (open later during courtyard events and most Tuesday evenings).
