SK KONTAKT Ostrava is a sports club established in 2004 at the Ostrava centre of KONTAKT bB, an organisation whose work supports children, young people and adults with disabilities. The club focuses on swimming and rehabilitation for people with disabilities of any type or degree, primarily serving the Moravian-Silesian Region.
Its main aim is to make swimming, a health-promoting physical activity, accessible to as many people with disabilities as possible. Through swimming, the club encourages participants to use their free time actively and develop a constructive approach to life with a disability. It combines swimming instruction with rehabilitation, social interaction and personal development, while helping swimmers incorporate the activity into their everyday lives. The club also supports those who wish to pursue sporting ambitions, without losing sight of swimming’s rehabilitative and social benefits.
SK KONTAKT Ostrava holds training sessions and organises club swimming competitions. Its swimmers also take part in events for athletes with disabilities, and the club shares updates and photographs of its activities through its website and Facebook page.
