About Korro Bio
Korro Bio is a biotechnology company developing genetic medicines for rare and prevalent diseases. Its mission is to realize the promise of genetic medicines by editing RNA, with the aim of changing a single RNA letter to repair a protein or create a new one with enhanced functionality. The company’s approach redirects a naturally occurring RNA-editing process found in human cells. It uses chemically modified RNA to guide a targeted change, supported by its proprietary Oligonucleotide Promoted Editing of RNA (OPERA®) platform, which enables the discovery and development of drug candidates.
Korro’s lead program, KRRO-121, is a GalNAc-conjugated RNA-editing oligonucleotide being developed as a potential treatment for hyperammonemia in people with urea cycle disorders (UCDs), regardless of mutational background, and in people with hepatic encephalopathy (HE). Designed using OPERA, KRRO-121 aims to generate a stabilized, de novo glutamine synthetase protein, an enzyme involved in ammonia clearance. Korro’s pipeline applies this precision and tunability to a range of rare and highly prevalent diseases.
