The story of human sin began with the serpent asking Eve a seemingly innocent question: “Why?” “Is that really so?” And that is much how the adventure of genealogy begins—with consequences that can prove every bit as serious. Humanity has never quite managed to break free from sin. And very few of us have ever managed to break free from the genealogical addiction, either. It begins with a simple question: Why does this person have the same family name as ours if he isn’t related to us? Then comes the next question: Why did we never know that this person actually is part of our family? Before long, the questions begin to multiply, while the answers become harder and harder to find. We start searching for them ourselves—and soon discover that there is never quite enough to learn to satisfy our curiosity. The Kiliś and Kilisz families are, in fact, one and the same family, their descendants now scattered throughout the world. The information published here may be copied and used in private family trees. We do not, however, grant permission to reproduce our materials in family trees published on foreign commercial genealogy websites. Unauthorized reproduction or publication of these materials may result in legal action. “…we do not take pride merely in the nobility of our ancestors. We remember it, and remind ourselves of it, lest our own nobility be debased—for nobility is a challenge and an obligation, not a privilege bestowed upon us…”

About Free Genealogy
Genealogia Polska is a genealogy resource and community focused on researching family histories, particularly through historical records and family trees. Its website brings together a public index that searches across multiple databases and trees, along with a featured family tree documenting the Kiliś and Kilisz families, whose descendants are now spread around the world. The site reports that this tree includes more than 15,000 people, over 5,000 families, and thousands of images and other materials.
Visitors can search for people, browse public family trees, and explore archival resources organized by country and record type, including church, state, and parish archives. Additional research tools include historical maps, place-name searches, a reading room, and utilities such as a calendar and measurement calculator. Genealogia Polska also supports community participation through shared materials, a public family tree, and assistance for users. Information may be used in private family trees, while republication on foreign commercial genealogy websites is not permitted without authorization. The project states that private data is excluded from public search results.
