About Kristin Smedley
Kristin Smedley is a beacon of resilience and hope in the face of adversity. Her journey began with the unexpected diagnosis of her two sons with a rare genetic disease causing blindness. Determined to secure a bright future for Michael and Mitchell, Kristin founded the Curing Retinal Blindness Foundation in 2011, raising over a million dollars and advocating for groundbreaking legislation in the US. Her inspirational story has garnered global attention through TEDx talks, media partnerships, and public speaking engagements.
Beyond her foundation, Kristin co-founded the Thriving Blind Academy with a mission to empower the blind community through employment, literacy, and financial stability initiatives. Through her upcoming children's book, short film, and podcast, Kristin continues to challenge perceptions of blindness and inspire others to embrace extraordinary expectations.
