Kroměřížská hokejová liga (KHL) is a vibrant ice hockey league founded in 2002, predating its Russian counterpart by six years. Established by Jaroslav Kovařík, it began with a pilot season in 2001 aimed at promoting hobby hockey in Kroměříž. Since 2009, the league has been under the stewardship of Petr Dostál, who has significantly enhanced its organization and popularity, ensuring a high level of competition among the eight teams that participate.

In addition to KHL, the Kroměřížská amatérská hokejová liga (KAMHL) was introduced in 2013 by Petr Dostál to cater to recreational players who have never participated in registered ice hockey competitions. This purely amateur league has attracted over 300 new enthusiasts, forming 14 teams and contributing to a thriving local hockey community. Annually, both leagues see approximately 500 players engage in the sport, fostering a passionate environment for ice hockey in Kroměříž.
