Kronengarten

Sozialpädagogische Betreuung Kronengarten (SPB Kronengarten) was a small, professionally staffed social-pedagogical institution in Ebnat-Kappel, in Switzerland’s Toggenburg region. It provided a family-oriented setting for children and young people with social-pedagogical care and support needs, offering four places in a close-knit group. Located in the village near schools and public transport, the institution aimed to complement larger residential homes with care and developmental support tailored to each young person’s educational needs.

SPB Kronengarten was licensed by the canton, recognised by IVSE, and operated in accordance with IVSE guidelines for service compensation. It was subject to oversight by the Canton of St. Gallen’s authority for children’s and youth institutions and participated in professional exchange with other organisations. The institution was also a member of the Swiss association for small social-pedagogical institutions. Its care service, including the Social-Pedagogical Family Kronengarten, closed at the end of April 2023. The organisation cited a lack of necessary conditions and official support for continuing its family-based model, while expressing openness to sharing its experience and supporting compatible initiatives.
