Kansas Assistance Network

Kansas Assistance Network helps individuals and families find and apply for affordable health coverage. Through free guidance from health insurance agents, the organization assists with applications for the Health Insurance Marketplace, Kansas and Missouri Medicaid programs (KanCare and MOHealthNet), and Medicare, including Parts A, B, C, and D, as well as supplemental or Medigap plans. Its agents also explain how insurance works, help clients understand their coverage and locate care, and connect people who do not qualify for insurance with affordable healthcare and potentially relevant programs.

Additional assistance includes cash assistance (TANF), food benefits (SNAP), childcare, utility and rent support, and Kansas and Missouri weatherization assistance (LIEAP). Interpreter services are available. Based in Kansas City, Kansas, Kansas Assistance Network is part of the Community Health Council of Wyandotte County, a nonprofit that employs Community Health Workers. The organization says it represents six organizations offering 56 local products, but not every available plan. When appropriate, it can direct clients to Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, SHIP, or other resources.
