Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (KSVDL) is a premier institution dedicated to cutting-edge laboratory research in the field of veterinary diagnostics. The Molecular Research and Development section focuses on developing accurate molecular diagnostic assays for major animal infectious diseases, including foodborne and zoonotic pathogens. Utilizing advanced platforms like Sanger sequencers, Luminex, and Digital PCR, the Molecular R&D section has developed over 60 molecular assays targeting more than 250 molecular targets.

The Next Generation Sequencing section at KSVDL offers high-accuracy long-read sequencing capabilities using the PacBio Sequel IIe™, providing functions like de novo assembly and variant linkage. The Virology and Serology sections specialize in developing serological assays and detecting various viruses, including the FIP virus and SARS-CoV-2.
