Kuivaniemen Osakaskunta

Kuivaniemi Osakaskunta is a local shared-property association serving the Kuivaniemi area in Iin, Finland. Its work focuses on safeguarding fish stocks, managing fishing-related matters, monitoring the condition of local waters, and improving aquatic environments through restoration projects carried out with the municipality of Ii and regional authorities. The association manages water and land areas along the Bothnian Bay coast, in the lower Kuivajoki River, and in smaller nearby waterways.

It provides information about fishing areas and permits, including coastal fishing locations and lamprey fishing grounds on the lower river. Fishing in its waters includes the use of traps, nets, rod and fly-fishing gear, and traditional willow lamprey traps. The association also undertakes community projects, such as maintaining Pankinnokka beach and helping create accessible access to the Oolanti shelter with a local hunting club.

Kuivajoki, which flows from Lake Oijärvi to the Bothnian Bay, is an important focus of conservation and fisheries work. In 2021, the association was named Finland’s best shared-property association
