We are are a social enterprise based in Kenya, that offers training and support to young people, educators and families in sexual reproductive health, rights and menstrual hygiene management. We produce washable sanitary pads by up-cycling waste materials from our @sokokenya clothing factory. The Kujuwa sanitary pad is a high quality, reusable, inexpensive pad that enables girls and women to manage their periods safely. We employ people trained through the @sokokenya Stitching Academy to produce our pads, providing the opportunity to earn a living wage and improve their quality of life. We believe a monthly period should not be a barrier for girls. It should not hinder them from attending school and it should not cause embarrassment or shame. We tackle misconceptions, build knowledge, understanding and support in the fight to end the stigma and normalise menstruation. About Kujuwa Initiative
Kujuwa Initiative is a passionate brand dedicated to supporting girls and promoting gender equality in Kenya. They aim to end period stigma, normalize menstruation, and provide equal opportunities for girls and menstruators. Kujuwa Initiative educates schools, after-school clubs, and residential camps about sexual reproductive health, rights, and menstrual hygiene management.
They produce high-quality, washable sanitary pads using fabric waste from the SOKO Kenya Clothing Factory, which are donated to girls along with training. The Kujuwa sanitary pad is KEBS-certified and designed for safe period management, with removable flannel liners for increased absorbency. These washable pads can provide up to three years of protection.
Kujuwa Initiative also offers the Kujuwa Kit, which includes sanitary pads, liners, underwear, dry bags, soap, and a KIT bag. They provide comprehensive training workshops for businesses, both face-to-face and online. Choose from a range of services or contact them to book a training session.
