Kulturlandschaft

Stiftung Westfälische Kulturlandschaft is a foundation established by the Westphalian-Lippe Farmers’ Association to help preserve and develop the cultural landscapes of Westphalia-Lippe. It works with farmers, conservation groups, landowners and local communities to protect nature and biodiversity while keeping agricultural production economically viable. The foundation’s approach recognizes that many habitats for threatened plants and animals depend on ongoing land management, and that conservation work should be supported and rewarded.

Its services include planning and coordinating nature and species conservation projects, advising on compensation measures, and providing an ecological account for offsetting and replacement requirements. The foundation also promotes production-integrated conservation, which incorporates measures for wildlife and habitats into active farming. Its projects address topics such as wildflower strips, farmland birds, partridges, swallows, bats and biodiversity across the region. Initiatives operate in places including Münster, Recklinghausen, Warendorf, Unna and Herford. The foundation offers practical resources, including a production-integrated conservation handbook and a database, and works with partners to develop solutions suited to local farms and landscapes.
