Kumamori, affiliated with the Japan Bear and Forest Society, operates under the guiding principles of gratitude to ancestors, responsibility for the future, and reverence for all living beings. This practical nature conservation organization is dedicated to the preservation and regeneration of Japan's mountainous forests, which have suffered from human-induced degradation. Founded in 1997 by passionate individuals who recognized the perilous state of wildlife, including bears and their habitats, Kumamori engages in a variety of initiatives aimed at restoring these vital ecosystems.

Their comprehensive activities include protecting wildlife, reforesting areas, environmental education, and advocating for effective policies that foster sustainable natural coexistence. Kumamori also emphasizes the importance of community involvement, believing that collective action can lead to national changes in conservation laws. With over 21,000 members and numerous local branches, Kumamori strives to ensure a thriving natural environment for future generations and all living organisms, making it a pivotal force in Japan's environmental movement.
