About Kunstmuseum Basel
Kunstmuseum Basel is one of the oldest and most prestigious art institutions in Switzerland, offering a rich cultural experience. Located in a favorable geographical position, the museum focuses on painting and drawing by artists from the Upper Rhine region from 1400 to 1600, as well as 19th to 21st-century art. It houses the world's largest collection of works by the Holbein family, with significant Renaissance works by Witz, Cranach, and Grünewald.
The 19th century is represented by paintings from Böcklin, van Gogh, Gauguin, and Cézanne. The 20th century exhibits include Cubism, German Expressionism, and US-American art since 1950. Contemporary art is displayed at Kunstmuseum Basel | Gegenwart.
With its three buildings (Main Building, Kunstmuseum Basel | Gegenwart, and New Building), the museum offers around 10,000 square meters of exhibition space. Since 2012, Credit Suisse has been a proud partner of Kunstmuseum Basel, supporting its commitment to preserving and promoting artistic heritage
