About us Founded in 1991, The Kurdistan Deaf Association is the leader of Deaf advocacy in Duhok. We work every day to eliminate social, economic, and educational barriers faced by the Deaf community, as well as provide support to Deaf Community members in need. About Kurdistan Deaf Association
The Kurdistan Deaf Association – Duhok is a brand that has been built by the local Deaf community, with a strong focus on advocating for Deaf rights and promoting Kurdish Sign Language (ZHK) education for Deaf children and their families. Led by President Karzan Rasheed, the association strives to establish a ZHK/Kurdish interpreter training program to ensure equal access for Deaf individuals across the region. In addition to their dedication to the Deaf community, the association also offers partnership coordination and Deaf interpretation services, overseen by Rizgar Ismail.
With a passion for gender equality, Rizgar also contributes to the promotion of Kurdish Sign Language education. The Kurdistan Deaf Association – Duhok is committed to empowering and supporting the Deaf community, making positive changes, and creating a more inclusive society
