Kurjen Ecovillage is a community in Vesilahti, Pirkanmaa, Finland, located near the shore of Lake Pyhäjärvi. Founded in 2012 on a former farm, it brings together a close-knit residential area, farmland and lakeside grounds. Its mission is to explore and put sustainable solutions into practice across all areas of life, while building a community based on cooperation and ecological living.
The village also welcomes visitors through guided visits, open events, courses, trips and workshops, and runs a summer café on Saturdays. Its projects include a biodiversity garden, a sustainable development centre and an edible forest garden, with the wider aim of developing the ecovillage as a place for learning and research. Kurjen Ecovillage Association works to advance sustainability and community life locally, nationally and internationally, including through a European Solidarity Corps volunteer programme and the CLIPS community incubator.
