The Kurt Grinnell Aquaculture Scholarship Foundation supports Indigenous students pursuing education and careers in aquaculture, fisheries science and management, or natural resource management. Established in honor of Kurt Grinnell, a Native American leader whose work contributed significantly to Washington State’s aquaculture industry, the foundation aims to continue his commitment to Tribal communities and their future.

The foundation awards scholarships to young people interested in these fields, giving priority to applicants who demonstrate a particular interest in aquaculture. Through its scholarship program, it encourages youth to explore opportunities that can contribute to food sovereignty, food security, and the long-term wellbeing of their communities.

The foundation’s website provides information about Kurt Grinnell, the organization’s mission, scholarship eligibility, application steps, and past recipients. It also invites people to contribute and support its work. By connecting education with aquaculture and natural resource stewardship, the Kurt Grinnell Aquaculture Scholarship Foundation helps carry forward a legacy of community leadership and investment in future generations.
