Posljednjih dana mjeseca studenoga 1970. godine, skupina nogometnih zanesenjaka odlučila je organizirati zimski malonogometni turnir u tada jedinoj i najprikladnijoj zagrebačkoj dvorani na Trešnjevci, u Veprinečkoj ulici, popularno nazvanoj “Kutija šibica”.
