Kernersville Shooting Stars Youth Basketball Academy (SSYBA) is a community-based, nonprofit youth organization serving Kernersville, North Carolina, and surrounding areas. Its six-month program combines basketball instruction with character development and academic support, guided by a “Student First” philosophy. Open to boys and girls in kindergarten through sixth grade, the Academy asks participants to maintain a 2.5 GPA and offers four weeks of tutoring when a student’s grades fall.

Players join age- and grade-based Pony, Mustang, or Stallion divisions, which build basketball fundamentals, teamwork, responsibility, and sportsmanship through practices, scrimmages, and games. Older divisions may also compete in local tournaments and community games. Membership includes monthly basketball instruction, a practice T-shirt, team uniform, awards ceremonies, family handbook, field trips, an end-of-season banquet, tutoring for at-risk youth, certified coaches and mentors, activity calendars, and community service opportunities. The Academy also provides a nutritious snack after practices and games and invites community leaders to share with participants. SSYBA welcomes families interested in helping young people grow academically, socially, and on the court.
