About Kweza Craft Brewery
Kweza Craft Brewery is a brand that believes in celebrating Rwanda's rich heritage and empowering women through their craft beer. Founded through a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2016 by Fina Uwineza, a Rwandan entrepreneur, and Steve Beauchesne, CEO of Beau's Brewery, Kweza has a vision to create a women-owned and women-led craft brewery. With the support of their Kickstarter campaign, they were able to purchase a bottling line and kickstart their journey.
In 2018, Kweza welcomed Jessi Flynn as Co-founder and Managing Director, who brings her expertise in craft beer, sustainability, and women's empowerment to the team. Kweza believes in sourcing locally and sustainably, and they are committed to supporting women and the local economy.
The name "Kweza," which means "harvest" and "purity" in Kinyarwanda, perfectly reflects their mission to celebrate Rwanda's flora and ingredients through their exceptional beers. The team at Kweza, led by Head Brewer Jessi Flynn and Co-founder Debby Leatt, strives to develop new and exciting beer recipes using Rwanda's incredible flora.
With a dedication to women's empowerment, sustainability, and showcasing the best of Rwanda's ingredients, Kweza Craft Brewery is making a positive impact in the world of craft beer.
