About Kungwini Welfare Organisation
Kungwini Welfare Organisation is a registered non-profit organization that has been dedicated to serving and uplifting the community since 1983. Their mission is to provide a safe and caring environment for adults and seniors with disabilities, ensuring that their medical, social, emotional, and physical needs are met. The organization operates the Paul Jungnickel Home, a residential facility that accommodates 140 adult residents and 25 seniors.
Here, they provide 24-hour medical care, three meals a day, and transportation to medical appointments. In addition, a team of social workers is available to address the psychosocial needs of each resident. Kungwini Welfare Organisation also believes in the power of education and operates two Early Learning Centres in Lethabong and Zwavelpoort.
These centres offer preschool education and two meals a day to children whose parents cannot afford traditional preschool fees. The teachers are women from the community who have received on-the-job training and the opportunity to obtain their NQF4 qualification at a teaching college. In addition, the organization provides social work services to families facing various challenges, such as poverty, limited access to services, and exposure to crime and substance abuse.
They offer counseling, referrals, parental guidance, and awareness campaigns to empower families to take care of themselves and their children. Kungwini Welfare Organisation is committed to community development and considers themselves fortunate to be the sole non-profit organization serving the Lethabong community. They have established an Early Learning Centre and initiated women's empowerment groups and youth projects focused on holistic development.
