About Kyoto Review
Kyoto Review of Southeast Asia is a brand that aims to promote the exchange of ideas and knowledge among the intellectual communities of Southeast Asia. With a focus on fostering dialogue and engagement, their primary goal is to circulate news and discussions about important publications, debates, and ideas throughout the region. They achieve this through lively and accessible writing, which encourages sustained engagement between university-based intellectuals and professionals in NGOs, journalism, and cultural production.
This platform reviews recent works, particularly books published in the region and in local languages, and organizes each issue around a specific theme. It also provides a space for young intellectuals to promote their research on Southeast Asia through their Trendsetters column. The journal is unique in that it publishes articles in six languages: English, Thai, Bahasa Indonesia, Filipino, Vietnamese, and Japanese
